My name is Fairouz Elbahr, I am an Egyptian artist living in Cologne, Germany.I graduated from Cairo with a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts and moved to Germany to start my Masters in Jewelry Design. Both paths seem to be part of my artistic career without forcing the focus on only one of them. Growing up in an artistic environment, among my father’s paintings, my grandfather’s Arabic Calligraphy writings and our Arabesque furniture undoubtedly is a source of inspiration. But so is everything else around me as well.

Geometry is the language of nature. All my life I have been drawn to geometry and patterns and it reflects in my designs of jewelry.I wondered why I felt this sense of relief and calmness when I gazed at a pattern. Does it quiet down the chaotic, at times noisy, asymmetry inside my head? Maybe. When I paint, this rigid system of repetitive units is dissolved by the intuitive brush strokes.I believe that jewelry is not just an adornment, it’s sharing a little part of who we are with the world.Working with different materials is joyful and opens up doors for more things to experiment.
